The clafoutis is dusted with powdered sugar and served lukewarm, sometimes with cream. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and butter until the sugar is dissolved.   5. Prepare 1/4 cup all purpose flour

  8. Take 1/2 tbsp confectioner's (icing) sugar

All Reviews for Clafoutis aux Cerises (Classic Clafouti). I love this recipe, I've made other clafoutis and was not happy with them. I used sour cherries, and replaced the vanilla bean with vanilla extract. Traditional clafoutis is made with cherries that still have their pits.

Instructions to make Clafoutis:
  1. Heat oven to 190C.
  2. Grease a dish, then sprinkle half the sugar on the butter, turning the dish around to coat it in sugar.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar with the milk, cream, flour, eggs and egg yolk.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared dish, then sprinkle over the cherries.
  5. Carefully put the dish in the center of the oven, and bake for 40 - 60 minutes until risen and golden. (I had to finish mine under the grill/broiler)
  6. Dust with confectioner's/icing sugar. Serve warm.

I used sour cherries, and replaced the vanilla bean with vanilla extract. Traditional clafoutis is made with cherries that still have their pits.
